Five Steps For Achieving Work Life BalanceNovember 28, 2019 Off By Maiko Hirose
Work-life balance is not about choosing between your work and personal life. It is not about equally dividing your time between the two. Sometimes people assume that there is one formula for doing this. They should realize that finding the balance today might mean a different thing tomorrow. Here are some ways to find balance between your life and work:
Set your priorities.
The problem with people who are starting to find work-life balance is that they are focusing on too many priorities. They want to be good parents, a perfect husband or wife, and still strive to come up on top of the corporate world. The right way to setting priorities is to start identifying things from the most important to the least important. This allows you to focus more and give enough time to your top priorities.
Take out unimportant activities.
Try to cut back on unimportant activities that steal valuable time from your top priorities. These activities might include regular after-work parties or meeting old acquaintances that you don’t really like. These may take time away from your family. Some activities like social networking sites and TV watching should be cut short, too, so you can make room in your schedule for more quality time for your personal life.
Always be mindful of your FREE time.
Your free time is your time not working. This is where you can adjust and make priorities. This is where you can make a big difference in reaching your goal of a work-life balance. You should protect your free time fiercely. What do we mean by this? When you have some free time, be careful not to think about work, and be mindful not to bring work home.
Keep yourself organized.
Keeping your life clutter-free means that you are in control of your life whether you are in the office or at home. It is easy to prioritize, to adjust, and to enjoy life when you are not bogged down by the confusion and stress that come from being disorganized. Organize your desk and your schedule. If you see something you do not need, trash it. You will feel better and in control afterwards.
Be good at what you do.
The fastest way to achieve a work-life balance is to love or at least be satisfied and contented with what you do. You will spend most of your time at work. It will be difficult to be happy with your life if you hate it. Keep a positive attitude towards your work and enjoy doing what you know best. Not only will this yield great results in your climb to the top of your corporate goals, but you will also achieve happiness in your personal life.
