Solve Your Storage Needs With These Practical TipsMay 24, 2020
There are many ways to get more space, even out of smaller residences, to store things, if you know how to implement a few practical organizational measures. In fact, most people don’t actually use all the possible storage space in their apartment or home simply because they don’t know how. Here are some suggestions to help you get organized and stay that way.
De-cluttering your house is the first order of busy. Yes, that means going through everything that you have and either throwing it away, giving it away, or selling it. Then set aside what you actually do use. The stuff that you haven’t used in a year or more needs also to be sent to the ‘get rid of’ pile. No matter how hard this is to do, you’ll be surprised at how much more space you will actually have when you have done this one exercise. Don’t stop until you have worked through every room.
Simplifying your home is the next important thing to do, if you really want more storage space. Go through your house and take out, take down and remove things such as end tables, pictures, candle holders, vases, stools, and other decorative items or semi-useless pieces of furniture. You will be shocked at what the place will look like when you remove all these items. Making your residence simple and organized will become much easier.
A third thing you will need to accomplish is to completely overhaul your closet storage systems in every room. Go to a nearby hardware store and check out the organizational shelving and storage hardware. Be creative as you come up with a plan to double the use of each closet. That’s right, double the storage capacity. It’s possible.
The last practical thing that you can do is to replace some of the odds and ends that you discarded or gave to goodwill, with one or two very practical pieces of storage furniture. One of the best places to almost double your storage space while opening up your floor space at the same time, is in the bedroom. By simply replacing your existing bed with a 6 or 12 drawers storage bed, you will have all the space you need to store bedroom items and clothes. In fact, these beds make it possible to even get rid of more furniture that take up much needed floor space in your bedroom.
