There are lots of people around who just cannot bear to throw things away. This is because they truly believe that one day they are bound to need the thing that they have just thrown. This is rarely the case. Here are a few tips that you could use to alleviate this problem.
As we all know storing lots of unwanted items can sometimes cause a lot of clutter. This often leads to tension and unhappiness in the household.
Why don’t you just start by taking all you broken toys and electrical items and place them into a box. You then list everything on the box along with the date you put them in there. Now you can store the box in your garage.
You can then store the box for about 30 days. If you need to use something out of the box then go ahead and use it but knock the item off the list.
After the initial thirty day period is up you can then move the box somewhere out of sight. Again if you really need something from the box then go and get it out.
Once 60 days are up you can then get the box and toss it into the garbage. The chance that you need something after 60 days is very minimal indeed. Obviously this does not include seasonal items.
This process can be done for any item in the house. But you should start with the broken items as these are the ones you tend to hoard on the pretext that you may get them fixed one day.
The kid’s rooms are always cluttered up so you could teach them to do this about once a month or so. It is a great way for them to get rid of any toys that they no longer use and it also keeps their rooms clutter free and clean.
