I often times feel a lack of confidence and inner peace within myself. How can I change that?

  1. Both confidence and inner peace can be boosted by reciting "mantras," whether aloud or in your head, multiple times on a daily basis. For confidence, your mantra could be, "I am a beautiful person, and I love myself exactly as I am" or anything similar of your own choosing. For inner peace, your mantra could be, "I will think ill of no one, not even myself," "I will not allow myself to worry over or take offense to trivial things," or, again, anything of your own choosing. You don’t even have to believe what you’re saying when you first start out. Just fake it till you make it. Keep it up, and you’ll eventually begin to believe and live your words.

    Aside from reciting "mantras," confidence is also boosted by a healthy lifestyle (balanced diet, regular exercise, daily exposure to sunlight and fresh air, etc.). Not only will your physical health be improved, your mental health will as well, as the vitamins and minerals gained from food and the feel-good hormones released during exercise affect your mind as well as your body. Other ideas include making and achieving goals both big and small, writing down things you like about yourself and/or things you’re good at, etc.

    I find that inner peace is boosted best by regular meditation. Even if you can afford only a few minutes, it really calms you and helps make you slower to anger throughout the day. Staying healthy may help with this as well, especially getting a decent amount of sleep. Though I can’t think of a particular technique (aside from meditation) that helps with this, simply quieting the inner chatter that goes on in your head will help a great deal with attaining inner peace.
